Lifescouts- Rubiks Cube Solving Badge
Ok, last one for a while.

I got my sister a rubik's cube for her birthday last year because she expressed an interest and I knew she was going to America at the time so I figured she you mess with it on the plane.
I'm glad I got the official one. Those cheep ones would never hold up to repeated use. At lest not while still being easy to use.
I finally solved it myself
Of course I cheated. but even with the instructions I still messed up enough times that I can now get at lest half way with out looking at them.

Lifescouts- Dungeons and Dragons Badge
I actually played a lot of different types of table top games before I ever had a game of Dungeons and Dragons. Probably because it's hard to get people together for a campaign and it's easier to do one-shots with other systems.
I did Dm a game way back before I knew anything about the game for my brother and his friend. I'm pretty sure I got everything wrong on that though.

I'm currently playing a forth edition campaign set in Neverwinter were I'm a Goliath Defender. It's a simply character to play as I just have to hit things. A change from my usual assassin type characters that are sneaky and stab you in the back.

Lifescouts- Pet-Owning Badge
I've never owned a pet.
My brother had a hamster for a while but it died. The family also had a goldfish but it tried to commit suicide. It jumped out of it's blow once when we were watching TV. Apparently sometimes fish do that if the water doesn't have enough oxygen in it. We all scrambled to rescue the fish and we did managed to get it back in the bowl but it still died some time later.
We also looked after a kitten that was rescued from the Jack Lynch Tunnel for a night before it went up to the country to live with my grand uncle but I don't think that counts.

Lifescouts- Programming Badge
I've learned the basics of programming in Basic from a course I did before. And I learned the basics of html from the course I'm doing now. I also though myself Action script for flash from a book. I've even did a simple game.
None of this means I actually know how to program anything though. Not anything big.
It's all the little things that get me. In programming, if you miss even the smallest symbol it can mess up your program and you'll have no idea why.
Still, it's always an accomplishment if you get it right.

Lifescouts- Video Games Badge
I have not bought a video game in quit some time. The newest console I own is a PS2.
You see I promised myself, in an effort to save money, that I wouldn't buy any more games until I finished the game I was currently on.
It was Final Fantasy 12.
I still haven't finished it.

(that's not to say I haven't played any recent games. I've have borrowed some from friends occasionally.)

Chess Badge
Lifescouts- Chess Badge
I've never played chess in a competition or anything, I really only know the basics. But I did teach someone to play chess.
It was a next door neighbours parent. I remember kind of thinking at first that maybe the were doing that thing grown-ups do where they pretend they don't know something so the child is entertained  but I did it anyway because it was fun. But I soon realised that they honestly didn't know. I don't know how well I taught the rules but I hope I did an ok job.
I think that was the first time I consciously realised that not all grown-ups know the same things.

Back to lifescouts.
Lifescouts- Snake-Holding Badge
I remember going to a zoo once when I was a kid and I got to hold a snake (a constrictor of some sort). It was longer than I was. Though I was quite young at the time so that's not saying much. It's really feels nothing like you think it would. Snake scales are quite dry and smooth. It was pretty cool.
I still have a picture of it somewhere I think.

Lifescouts- Zoo Badge
Every year for our school trips we would go one of two places. Either a farm, or Fota Wildlife Park.
Now nothing against farms or zoos but We always heard of other schools going to interesting place or even other countries. And we were stuck with animals. )though our last year we did get to go to Oysterhaven Adventure Centre)
Fota's a good place for what it is but it never left much of an impression on me. Thou it's cool to watch the monkeys try and steal your food at lunch.

I had a job interview with them last year and I thought it went ok but I never heard back from them so I guess not.
:(

This didn't turn out to be much of a story.

Lifescouts- Fishing Badge
When I was younger my family would sometimes go fishing at the beach. There were days were the fish were practically jumping onshore. Just sick a hook on a string with something shiny and you could probably catch something.
One time we went out in our Grand Uncle's boat. We didn't have rods, we has lines with about six hooks on each.
We caught so much fish.

It was all mackerel though. And since we caught them we had to eat them.
All Summer we had nothing but mackerel.

So now I can't stand the stuff.

Still don't have a tumblr. Still don't want one. I spend enough time on the internet already.

Lifescouts- Swimming Badge

I was on my primary school swim team. Not much of a story to tell really. I was only a sub (and the only sub) but it got me out of class which, of course, was why I did it.

The driving badge )

Of course, now it's pretty obvious just how few people on the road actually drive properly.

This guy on tumble had this idea for LifeScouts.

Basically it's like the getting boyscout badges but for life experiences. You blog a badge you've earned and share a story behind it. You can even buy actual badges.

I don't have a tumble, mainly because I waste enough time on the internet already, but I decided to do a few.
