Batman snippet
Feb. 29th, 2024 08:42 pmI have a snippet but no fic to use it in so I figured I might as well just post it.
Random person: “I’m telling you Bruce Wayne is Batman’s Sugar Daddy.”
Other random person: “Nah man, you’re reading way too many tabloids, that’s not it at all.”
“OK so how do you think he’s paying for all those weird gadgets?”
“Clinical trials.”
“What?”
“Listen, I did this soap thing a while back.”
“Soap thing?”
“Yeah, some soap company wanted to make sure their new product was ok to sell so did a clinical trial. It was easy money. All I had to do was keep track of if I got any rashes or anything. Decent pay, and I got free soap for a month.”
“In Gotham?!”
“No, you kidding? I don’t have a death wish. You don’t volunteer to be a test subject in Gotham. This was back when I lived in Star City.”
“OK so what’s this got to do with Batman?”
“Gotham’s got the record for the city with the most amount of gas attacks in the world, right? So we all need antidotes for whatever venom or pollen or toxin that’s going around. But whenever a big name rogue has a new scheme they tweak with their formula, so we need all new ones every attack.”
“Yeah, so?”
“So how do you think the hospitals always have antidotes to hand out. You know how long it takes things like that to go to human trials in other places? Yet somehow there’s always something available within a week.”
“So?”
“So who’s the first one out there fighting these villains, who definitely will need the antidote first thing? The perfect person to test things since he actively seeks out the worst new dangers?”
“Batman.”
“Exactly, Batman. So if he were to volunteer to test a new antidote, and they work for him, it means hospitals and stuff could start churning it out for the rest of us. You know Wayne buys up those antidotes in the millions to give them out for free. I bet those pharmaceutical companies are making buckets of money.”
“You really think big pharma is paying for Batman.”
“Listen a guy that runs around as a giant bat is definitely crazy enough to sell his body to science. There are some really big companies out there, I bet they can probably keep him in a new batmobile every week.”
“Dang, I hate how that actually makes sense.”
Batman Fic: Work in Gotham
Jan. 28th, 2024 03:44 pmThis is set in a vague amalgamation of Gotham City, I'm going off vibes for these characters mainly.
And yes, this is a reference to PandaRedd's Bill the henchman.

Lego DC Supervillains
Jan. 26th, 2024 06:34 pmLego DC Supervillains had some good reviews so why not.
Still shakes the whole screen with explosions which I basically close my eyes for but at least there not an entire level of nothing but explosions.
It was fun.
It did have a few glitches that if I didn't have google could have been pretty game braking but thankfully people have posted online how to get around them.
There's on part when you going up the communication's tower and Deadshot is supposed to follow a trail to find something but I think the ending animation is misaligned or something because you can't actually find the thing if you follow the proper instructions. You have to start the trail and the cut over to were thing appears. If you try to come at were the trail disappears from behind you can hit upon it. It's further back and to the left of where you think it'll be.
Here also the part on Oa where your fighting Power Ring. After Sinestro makes the giant hand, Power Ring will make a tank and he's supposed to jump in it. Some weird glitch makes him yeet off the stage and he dives off it get in and never returns. Your left on the stage fighting endless waves of minions and unable to finish the level. You have to quit without saving so you can restart from the last save point (just before the boss battle) and when Power Ring tries to form the tank, stand on top of it and get in. He'll then kick you out but stay on the stage so you can continue beating him up and finish the level.
There was also a glitch that helped me out. One of the missions in the overworld was to unlock Talon. I was leaving that mission to later since I was going to all the missions that require changing costumes at the same time. I figured I could just make a few characters will all the costumes at the same time to switch between them easier. Only I was walking around and spotted a pull hook just floating not connected anything. So I just got a character to use it and a van suddenly appears behind it and it opened the doors and completed the Talon mission even though I hadn't even activated it.
All the other glitches were minor since whenever a character got stuck or something I could just switch characters and continue fine. And it only crashed a couple of times.
Talon's glide animation is hilarious. His owl just gabs his head and he flails around while slowing falling.
It is annoying that you can't skip the opening cut screen before the main menu. Especially since it's in first person.
I do recommend it though. I've even managed to get all the achievements, no hassle.

Batman Arkham Knight
Jan. 3rd, 2024 11:54 amAnd then I didn't.
Admittedly I got distracted by Chants of Sennaar, but I did eventually get back to finish things but I still hadn't written anything. I have now also finished Lego Batman 3, which I had got in a bundle but never played, so I think it's about time to write about AK before writing about that game.

Batman fic & art: Demons Revealed
Sep. 15th, 2023 05:51 pmSo here it is:
( Demons Revealed )
Batman Arkham City
Jul. 29th, 2023 11:55 amGood game but I finished the game before I got all the Riddler trophies. So I went back to get them but it turns out you can do the final Riddler mission without needing to 100% it. Which is great and all but once you do all the challenges you're kind of left there like a lump. I know you can see all the concept art and everything but I would have liked something in game. even just a sound clip or something.
I kind of makes it feel like the games just trails off otherwise.
I will admit I did look up how to do some of the challenges but not that many really.
I kind of suck at the gliding so those one took me a bit but I never got as frustrated as the that stupid Tank mission in Assassins Creed, probably because they were all so short.
Incidentally, the instructions for the reverse batarang don't mention that you need the remote batarang instead of the regular one. Which makes sense in hindsight but you only need to use it once in story so it's easy to forget bout it.
I am incredibly grateful that you can turn off inverted controls for the remote batarang because I would not have been able to do any of the challenges involved otherwise.
I do feel a bit dumb that I didn't realise that the Gun Jammer works on the turrets as well as regular guns though.
I'm kind of annoyed I couldn't get all the balloons in the Harley DLC but I did it twice now, the second time with a walk-though, and I'm still missing 1. Since I can't just go in and free roam like in the main game I don't think it's worth it.
Some tips for anyone trying to do all the challenges after the main game:
There's a guy with a Jammer in the subway for you to use the Electric disruptor on.
One of the guys outside the museum will trow a fire extinguisher so you can hit it with a batarang.
There's 2 guys in armorer in the industrial district. Find the one hanging with two others to line them up to fire him into one of the others. The one by the gate is too far away to hit the other guy.
There a big bunch of people in the courthouse the first time you go into if after the main plot, they're good for any of the combo challenges you need. I finished up my Catwoman challenges there.
I do like the mechanic of interrogating various goons working for the Riddler to unlock trophies locations on the map. That was neat. I did accidentally do a ledge takedown on one instead of integrating them & I think it made me miss a few because one final riddle eluded me until I looked it up. But in my defense, it's the same button.
Story-wise it's fine. Lots of running back and forth as your goal keeps getting interrupted with more problems. Classic video-game plot.
The one thing I felt off was that everyone is kind of an asshole. For the Villains it's expected of course, but Alfred was a lot more jerk-like then I think was needed. He's dry and sarcastic sure but it's not like he hates Bruce. And of course Batman has his "I work alone Bah Humbug" bit, even as he demonstrably works with others. But he's got a very "I'm always right" attitude here. And in the DLC it's pointed out by the other characters he's being a jerk.
I know, since I've read the comics and know spoilers for the next game, that it's probably because of Jason's death but they all made it seem like it because of the Joker. Which ... no. Just, No.
The Joker is the one who thinks he and Bat's have a thing, not Bruce. Bat villains having an obsession with Batman (or Bruce Wayne) is pretty common but Batman just wants to stop criminals. His obsession is with crime itself not the individual criminals. That's why he's the hero and they're not.
I don't know. It was just the vibe I got. Maybe I'm just reading it wrong.
It wasn't the whole time, there were just a few moments that stuck out.
Getting to play as other people for a bit was neat but I never felt like I was any good at the combat so I always preferred when I had all of Batman's armour.
Not too interested in the extra challenges, just like last time, So I think I can say I've finished the game.
Batman/Danny Phantom musings
Dec. 14th, 2022 09:28 pmSo I’ve fallen down the rabbit hole of Batman/Danny Phantom fics.
So when Superboy Prime punched the universe (or whatever version of events you going with) Jason woke up in his coffin and at that very moment he was both dead and alive.
At that point he was a halfa.
But while Gotham might have more ambient ectoplasm then places like, say, Metropolis or Star City, it’s got nothing compared to Amity Park.
And it’s definitely nothing like having a portal to the ghost zone bast you in the face or open up directly on top of you.
So when Jason woke up he had the start of a ghost core but had no energy to switch to ghost form.
For anyone else, waking up buried six feet underground in a coffin would probably mean going from half ghost to full ghost pretty quick but as Robin he had enough skill to crawl out of the grave.
But from that, along with the injuries from when he died [and being hit by a car] he wasn’t in the best of shape.
A full ghost this damaged would probably be retreat back into their core to heal but since he was alive, and couldn’t change into ghost form, he did the living equivalent, which is a coma.
So he got patched up in a hospital as a John Doe, which helped the worst of his injuries, and there is some ambient ectoplasm in Gotham so he was getting better. Slowly.
Of course that just meant he went from a regular coma to a walking one, because unfortunately his body woke up faster than his mind did.
So he escaped the hospital and started wandering around Gotham as basically a zombie. Which would have been fine, since he was slowly getting better, except for the fact that he was found by the league of assassins.
Now the last thing an organization that kills people would want is any risk of their victims coming back for revenge. So their all their home bases and everywhere around the Lazarus pit is warded against ghosts. Any ectoplasm in the area is funneled directly to the pit so there’s no ambient energy around.
So Jason’s stops getting better.
He was stuck.
Now I’d like the fanon that the Lazarus pit is ectoplasm but I’d like to propose it’s not just ectoplasm.
Thin spots between the infinite realms and the living world are rare but not as rare as thin spots that open up directly over Ley lines. It’s the balance between the living and the dead that heals up the dying or just straight kills people. Possibly making the rage zombies what happens when the body is healed be that whatever part would have made a ghost was yeeted into the Ghost Zone so all that was left was corrupted ectoplasm.
So Jason gets chucked into the Lazarus pit.
Now normal people (if the survive) just go mad for a time. And no one has tried to put a ghost into the pit so who knows what’d happen (probably nothing good).
But Jason, though he doesn’t know it, is a human/ghost hybrid. So things go a bit wrong.
Good news is it does heal his body and gives him enough ectoplasm to boost his ghost core.
Unfortunately, either because of the anti ghost measures in place or because of the pit itself, his core was immediately under attack.
So he kind of get’s split in half.
Not like what Danny did with the Fenton Ghost Catcher, and certainly not that cleanly. Instead his ghost half get kind of suppressed down inside him.
And since he never even knew he had a ghosts half he doesn’t know there’s anything to fix.
For normal people pit madness fades but when you’re also dealing with half of yourself torn and stuffed into a ball where you can’t access it, it probably lingers a bit.
Also, since it’s not a clean split who knows what ghostly instincts a popping up that he has no clue how to deal with (or what human ones got stuffed into his core that he doesn’t relies are missing).
And I don’t actually know what happens next.
Does he stumble upon pure ectoplasm and finally get enough energy for his core to burst out of the seal.
Does a ghost (or a ghost weapon) blast him and start causing cracks in the seal so his ghostly self starts peeking through.
Maybe there’s a friendly magic user who tries and cleanse him of the Lazarus pit effects and, pop, suddenly he’s a ghost (and the magic user might be terrified that they might have accidentally killed him)
Heck maybe all of these things happen.
I don’t know I’m just gonna leave it here.Sick ramblings and Batman Fic
Sep. 26th, 2022 04:48 pmMy shopping came today with a little prize box they apparently sometimes do. I think it might be a way to get rid of old stock but it was still pretty noice.
The box had a small chocolate, a coffee pod, a dark chocolate protein bar, spicy doritos n& a Pepsi max.
The thing is, I don't like dark chocolate, I can't handle spices, I don't drink coffee & I dislike diet drinks.
On the other hand, I was so stuffed up I could barely taste anything & spices are good for congestion right? So I eat them anyway.
And you know what, I think it helped.
Maybe it was just because I at something & had some caffeine but I did feel a little better afterwards.
Also yesterday I took some time out of playing video games and feeling sick & miserable to type up a short bit on musings on the Bat Famaly's Social Medias.
I have figured out how to do fake tweets on Ao3 now. (Though I know nothing about twitter so all retweet/reblog numbers I made up at random.)
Plain text version below.
Batman fic: Red Hood Vs the Court of Owls
Aug. 23rd, 2022 09:48 pmProbably because it's so short.
I fully admit I just wanted to do a version of the Court of Owls rhyme as a threat against them and then made a short fic to stick it in.
Can't think of were to go with it though so it's staying short.
Batfam fic: Robin is Magic
Aug. 18th, 2022 09:00 pmAnother batfam fic bit focusing on the Robins, 'cause why not.
