On Thursday after lunch, so around 2ish, I got a sudden terrible headache.
I don't what to call it a migraine because I used to get migraines a lot when I was younger but I haven't had one in years and years.

When I used to get migraines they'd always start with an aura. A blind spot that would spread out in a ring and by the time it reached the end of the eye and I could see again the pain would have hit. The aura was the queue to immediately take medication to try and shorten recovery time. If I missed it, usually because it struck when I was asleep, it would get so bad I would have to trow up. And of course in those cases I would have to wait until I finished throwing up to take the medication.

I was on something stronger then the 1st level migraine medication, I remember that. Synflex I think. It's (thankfully) been a while.

The day of the migraine all I could ever do was lie in my bedroom as dark as it could get and wait for the medication to kick in enough that I could sleep it off.
The next day, even if I was feeling better I was usually useless for anything. Pain takes a lot out of you and migraines leave you really fuzzy. But I was usually fine the 3rd day.

It's why I'm so hesitant to call what I got a migraine.

I didn't get an aura and the only medication I had was some paracetamol someone had in the office but that at least made enough of a dent in it that I was able to get home.
Yes, the pain was so bad I felt nauseous and I had to leave early.
But I was able to get home and crawl into bed and sleep for a few hours.

I obviously didn't have didn't have any migraine medication since it's been so long but panadol seemed to be enough to let me potter around and get myself something to eat (even if I wasn't feeling hungry) before going back to bed again.

I was feeling better the next day. But better isn't well, and I probably shouldn't have gone back to work. Even if I was working from home.
I ended up leaving early again but I made it half the day at least.

It's been 2 days since then and I am feeling a lot better.
Still not 100% though.

To be honest, it probably was a migraine, if technically a lighter one then I used to get.

But I really don't want to admit it.

I really don't want to get migraines again.

I can't walk without crutches yet but finally being able to put weight on my leg opens up so many options. I have a lot of physio to do before I'm back to normal but I finally have my cast off.
I have a boot cast to wear for the next 2 weeks but it has straps so I can take it off. Which means I can sleep in more then position again, I can were my pajamas. I can wear more then 1 of the 2 pants that fit over the cast.

I know I was healing all this time but now it finally feels like I'm on the mend.

My wonderful amazing sister who has been helping me out while I've been laid-up with a broken leg, tested positive for COVID today.

She didn't have any non-expired tests at her place so she took the test over at my place since she woke up with a fever last night.

Thankfully I tested negative so at least I don't have to deal with it on top of the broken leg but it sucks for her.

While I'm more able then I was before I still wont be able to weight on my leg until next month so my options are limited.
But I definitely don't want to make things worse for her since she has been doing so much to help out.

I hope I don't have to move back with my Mum.

Update

Of the 3 jobs interviews I had around the time I broke my leg I've still only heard back from the first one (that I didn't get it).
I also still haven't heard back about the illness benefits nor the possible medical card.

I did at least get an update at the doctors appointment today.

I thought it'd be only 3 weeks but I was told that since I was only in the soft cast for 10 days instead of 2 weeks to be safe they are going to leave me in the cast for another 4 weeks and then I have an apportionment on the 4th of Oct to get a boot cast and I'll finally be able to weight on the leg.

In the meantime, sitting like a lump with my leg elevated is all I can really do.

*sigh*

At least I have the internet to keep me occupied.
I'm really grateful to my sister for letting me use her dropout subscription.

Broken leg

I wasn't even doing anything interesting. I was just walking. But I still managed to break my leg.

I'm writing this all down here mainly so I have a record for everything in case I need a reference.

epic saga under the cut )
So that's the epic saga of my broken leg.
I really hope I heal fast.

I still have a problem with my eye.

I mean, it's not really an issue since I'm not in pain and it's not affecting my vision. But the fact remains that I have a spot/boil/sore under my eyelid.
Still.

I took the antibiotics for a week as directed but nothing changed.
I then left it a week to see if it would clear up (and because I had car issues, more on that later)
but no change.

I went back to the GP and they said if the antibiotics didn't do anything then chances are it's not an infection.
It's either a thing that will clear up on it's own after a couple of mounts and I can ignore it. Or it's something that needs a procedure to clear.

So it's back to the eye specialist.

The doctor sent off a note so I'm just waiting to hear back. But it does mean I wasted money on 2 doctors appointments & antibiotics and now I going to have to pay for the option as well.

*sigh*

In other news, I was driving out of the car park after shopping the weekend before last and reversed into a steal pillar I wasn't paying attention to.

I drove around to a bunch of car repair places to get an estimate on how much it'd cost to fix, and my god, it's so expensive.
It was all cosmetic damages, the car ran fine and the lights all worked. But i did shatter the tine window next to the main one and misaligned one of my lights (something I think only matters for the NCT).
So it added up.

Thankfully I found one place that cost less then 1,000. It took them the rest of the week to get the parts but I drove my car into them last Tuesday morning and was able to pick it up the next day at 2pm.
They even cleaned up the nasty green stuff growing in the corners of the outside I never got around to cleaning off.

I had to spend so much money last week.

Thankfully it's completely different problem to my previous eye issues.
Well, I say completely different, but it is tangibly related.

last weekend I noticed the underside of my lower right eyelid was red.
I had just had an eyelash fall into my eye so I didn't think much of it as the time.
But Sunday night, when I was putting in my eye ointment (I'm still on ointment and drops until September) I notice a red bump.
Some sort of cyst or sore.

As it was a long weekend so I couldn't ring up the eye specialist until Tuesday but when I did I was told it was ok to go to my GP for it. (Saving me 130 euro for the specialist at least.) I had things to do that day after work anyway so I first stopped into Specsavers on the off change they could deal with it but they said to go to a GP in case something needed to be prescribed.

I went to my Doctor's and the next available slot was the next day at 5.

That was fine. I work morning shifts now so that was plenty of time to finish work and get into town.
So much time, in fact, that I decided to treat myself and go to a restaurant and get a steak.

It was nice, but I got a little too comfortable with the time and had to rush after my meal to make it to the appointment.
Still, I got there just as the 5 o'clock news came on the radio so I made good time.

The issues is thankfully not to big a deal.
It was basically a blocked pour, probably from that eyelash.

I'm pretty sure it's because I'm too paranoid to rub my eye anymore so I'm not cleaning out the debris properly.

The doctor gave me a basic cleaning routine for it and prescribed some antibiotic eye drops just in case.

But this isn't the end of the story.

I gave the name of a pharmacy I was going to be passing by on the way home. it was only about 5-10 mins away so I arrived pretty quickly so it was still open.
Unfortunately they didn't have the antibiotics in stock.

The people at the pharmacy were really nice though and said they try and contact the Doctor to see if there was an alternative I could get.
By this point it was coming closer to 6.
In the mean time I could try and ring around to other pharmacies to see if any had it and they would pass along my prescription if I found one.

I don't know what Fucithalmic drops actually are but apparently there was a supplier issue so nowhere had any.

Thankfully, the pharmacy was able to get though to the Doctor's office and she changed my prescription.

I am very grateful for the extra mile they went though to get it since they could have just sent me away or made me come back another day since it wasn't technically that urgent.

All in all everything turned out all right but it was a long day.
The delay did mean that I missed most of the traffic on the way home though.

I had to get my eye scraped yesterday and it was exactly how it sounds.
Thank God for anaesthetic.

Explanation... )

Nothing I can do now except heal up.
Fingers crossed it'll be fast and complete.
