Why does my digestive system hate me?

It seems to just randomly attack me.

I spend almost half an hour feeling miserable in the bath room and then I’d  be fine until the next time it decides to do this. With long enough gaps that I forget about it.
 

It’s just never forgiven me for getting an ulcer a few years ago.
