It’s only for Christmas staff but it’s better then nothing.

I’m telling you though it was disproportionately difficult to apply for.

I heard from a friend that Penny’s were looking for staff so I went it to hand in a C.V. only it turns out you have to apply online. ‘No problem,’ I think and I got the web address from the customer serves desk. It turns out, however, that this address doesn’t actually exist. Oh, it diverts you immediately to the correct site but it leaves you feeling like something’s gone wrong. This feeling only grows when you try to find out how to apply. There’s no email address so you can’t just send them a C.V. you have to fill out a form. But nowhere on the site does it tell you this. I eventually found the form, apparently you have to find the store on a map and if there’s jobs available a small button will appear. (I only kept looking for it because I knew there were looking for people.) Just finding the application form must be part of the application process.

As for the form itself, it had a lot of ridicules question like how to spell tomorrow and simple maths problems. It also had some ridiculous multiple choice questions like if a customer was looking for something would you A: help them or B: ignore them. Ok, they weren’t quite that bad, but close enough.

For the interview tomorrow I have to fill out another form and bring a passport or something. This is a job selling cheap clothes, it’s not hard. What’s with all the hassle, do you not want anyone to work for you or something?

Good grief.
