I'm working from home right now. I need the internet.
It started off with the fact that the letting agent wanted me to use a separate company to transfer the bills into my name.
No problem, the options I wanted were all there on their website. I entered in my details and was set up w/ the electricity just fine.
Not w/ the internet though.
It turns out in order to switch over to a new supplier I needed an UAN number. Which, of course, I didn't have.
Nether did the letting agent. no the LL apparently.
After a number times ringing around I was able to find out it might be possible to use the landline number instead. But of course I didn't have that either. And there was no phone in the property.
I tried to borrow one but I couldn't find my mum's one & the one my granny used to have wasn't working.
I was eventually able to borrow one from a neighbor and dial 199000 to get it.
It didn't help.
So it turns out that the old tenant still had an active line (I later found out it was due to end in Aug) and to be set up I defiantly needed the UAN. I was told that maybe getting a proof of tenancy sent in could work but was warned it could take up to 30 days.
That's not good enough, I've already stopped paying rent on my current place & am only payed up to the end of the month. I'm not moving in if there is no internet.
I was able to find out that the prev tenants with sky so after a very frustrating time navigating the phone menus I got through to someone who was able to set me up. I had to go with the Internet & TV package because it was cheaper then just the internet on it's own (because of installation costs) even though I don't own a TV.
The box was supposed to have arrived today but I went down after work & there was nothing there. I was told it could take 3 days to arrive so hopefully it will be there tomorrow.
the engineer will be out on Wed to install the Internet & then I'll be able to move in.
The installation of the TV is supposed to happen on Thurs but I don't care about that.
Here hoping I'm set up by the end of the week.
