It is such an Irish tradition

There’s this tradition that if you take a piece of straw from the crib in mass and keep it in your wallet or purse it wont be empty for the rest of the year.

Which means, of course, even if there’s no money in it, the saying is still technically correct because you have a piece of straw in it.

It just struck me as such an Irish way of doing things.
