I’m a little calmer now

xt1meThough that might just be because I’ve come out the other side of frustration. Let me list the problems.
Firstly, my printer isn’t working. This is more of an inconvenience but it does mean that I can’t put people cues on the flats so they know their entrances and exits.
Next, we only got the lights up yesterday and only had a proper tech rehearsal today with the dress rehearsal.
The director and some of the other actors still don’t know al their lines.
My assistant is apparently sick and didn’t show up today. The one day we really ran though the whole play properly.
I managed to peal off the top layer of skin off my thumb
We haven’t even started to work out the music so I have to over it tomorrow before he show.
It feels like I have to basically handhold my sound and lighting guys because there only learning and don’t really know how things work.
I can’t stop coughing.
We only managed to rehearse the basket scenes with the basket today because we’ve only just got the servants and a basket. And the basket is no good.
I hate that basket. I was waiting for the costumer to give me the base for it because they said they had a great big styrofoam box that would do. Unfortunately they couldn’t get it to me on the weekend so they said I’d get it Monday. I got in Monday at 12 and waited all day and no basket. I have no idea how they got the idea I didn’t want it after I confirmed a number of times but it meant I had to wait until today to even see the thing. I managed to put something together even though it was too bit but the nice bamboo stuff I got from anther cast member wouldn’t stick to it so I had to use cloth instead. And as I said, it doesn’t work. We had no time to practise with it and it blocks the exits for other actors because there’s no room for anything back stage. I’m going to go in tomorrow and try and make a collapsible frame with the bamboo and cover that with the material and hope it works.
This all is on top of the fact we had builders in at home all day today. On the plus side it means we’re finally got the heating fixed (and the shower, which broke a few days ago) but on the minus side means I got no lie in when I was up late last night for a prolonged rehearsal.
We’re opening tomorrow. I think these shows get worse and worse every year (though we always manage to pull a good play together in the end) In a few years I wont be surprised if it just spontaneously combusts.
(And they need to go bye brown paint. I’m sick of having to make it up but mixing all the colours together. The only colour you get with that is mud. We don’t even have any proper primary colours, only tins and hues. Red and yellow should make orange not pink.)
