Film woes

The problem with this film, I think, is that the director, the writer and the producer have no idea just what their jobs mean. The producer has now taken over the writers job so he is now just an actor. He’s rewritten the script (again) and the director has basically been pushed out to the side and seems too timid to say anything. The producer is now pretty much doing three jobs and under a tremendous amount of stress but it’s pretty much entirely his own fault. The first part of the meeting today was one long rant from the producer giving out to the former writer for messing about and not pulling his weight. Now I don’t know what he was doing but the producer didn’t have to give out to him in front of the whole crew and since he’s taken over and rewritten pretty much everything it’s kind of like he stole the film idea and is giving out to the person he stole it from. The (former) writer and director both agree it’s now solely the producer’s film.

Thank god for the actors. They’re all cast now (bar extras) and we’re having rehearsals. They are all full of enthusiasm and have no idea how much the rest of us just want to bang are heads against the walls.

At least me and the DOP (director of photography) got to go out and rant at each other for a few hours while we looked around and bought props. The scripts been cut by 10 pages but has more actors and props added. We are filming on Friday.

*Sigh*

Just… *sigh*

They got somone else to be 1st AD (assistant director) though. Thankfully.
