I have a snippet but no fic to use it in so I figured I might as well just post it.

Random person: “I’m telling you Bruce Wayne is Batman’s Sugar Daddy.”

Other random person: “Nah man, you’re reading way too many tabloids, that’s not it at all.”

“OK so how do you think he’s paying for all those weird gadgets?”

“Clinical trials.”

“What?”

“Listen, I did this soap thing a while back.”

“Soap thing?”

“Yeah, some soap company wanted to make sure their new product was ok to sell so did a clinical trial. It was easy money. All I had to do was keep track of if I got any rashes or anything. Decent pay, and I got free soap for a month.”

“In Gotham?!”

“No, you kidding? I don’t have a death wish. You don’t volunteer to be a test subject in Gotham. This was back when I lived in Star City.”

“OK so what’s this got to do with Batman?”

“Gotham’s got the record for the city with the most amount of gas attacks in the world, right? So we all need antidotes for whatever venom or pollen or toxin that’s going around. But whenever a big name rogue has a new scheme they tweak with their formula, so we need all new ones every attack.”

“Yeah, so?”

“So how do you think the hospitals always have antidotes to hand out. You know how long it takes things like that to go to human trials in other places? Yet somehow there’s always something available within a week.”

“So?”

“So who’s the first one out there fighting these villains, who definitely will need the antidote first thing? The perfect person to test things since he actively seeks out the worst new dangers?”

“Batman.”

“Exactly, Batman. So if he were to volunteer to test a new antidote, and they work for him, it means hospitals and stuff could start churning it out for the rest of us. You know Wayne buys up those antidotes in the millions to give them out for free. I bet those pharmaceutical companies are making buckets of money.”

“You really think big pharma is paying for Batman.”

“Listen a guy that runs around as a giant bat is definitely crazy enough to sell his body to science. There are some really big companies out there, I bet they can probably keep him in a new batmobile every week.”

“Dang, I hate how that actually makes sense.”

Batman Fic: Work in Gotham

This was somewhat inspired by Lego DC Super Villains. One of the powers some of the characters have is 'Goon Control' and it got me thinking as to why Gotham never seem to tun out of minions for the bad guys to use.
This is set in a vague amalgamation of Gotham City, I'm going off vibes for these characters mainly.
And yes, this is a reference to PandaRedd's Bill the henchman.

Sick ramblings and Batman Fic

So I was feeling far too miserable to do my grocery shopping yesterday. Thankfully I can just order online.
My shopping came today with a little prize box they apparently sometimes do. I think it might be a way to get rid of old stock but it was still pretty noice.

The box had a small chocolate, a coffee pod, a dark chocolate protein bar, spicy doritos n& a Pepsi max.
The thing is, I don't like dark chocolate, I can't handle spices, I don't drink coffee & I dislike diet drinks.

On the other hand, I was so stuffed up I could barely taste anything & spices are good for congestion right? So I eat them anyway.

And you know what, I think it helped.
Maybe it was just because I at something & had some caffeine but I did feel a little better afterwards.

Also yesterday I took some time out of playing video games and feeling sick & miserable to type up a short bit on musings on the Bat Famaly's Social Medias.
I have figured out how to do fake tweets on Ao3 now. (Though I know nothing about twitter so all retweet/reblog numbers I made up at random.)

I like the whole the-citizens-of-Gotham-think-the-batfam-are-cryptids idea. But I also like the whole the-citizens-of-Gotham-are-all-jaded from how much they’ve had to deal with over the years.
So I kind of thought how that might work together.

Like, everyone’s pretty sure Batman was summoned from the depths of hell (or the darkest parts of Gotham, same thing). In fact, there’s a rumour going ‘round that the reason Batman never kills anyone is because one of the clauses he was summoned by means that if he very ended a life he’d be banished back to hell. But he’s a demon (or whatever) so he’s good a figuring out how to get around that.
The thing is, he’s obviously trying to pretend to be human.
There’s plenty of people he's met by now, regular citizens or victims he’s tried to reassure, that have seen him look like a guy in a costume. But he’s not fooling anyone. There are just too many crooks he’s beat up over the years. Telling stories about how he’s appeared out of the shadows, or dodged bullets, or just figured out fool-proof plans. No one really believes it.
I mean, look at his car. At some point he must have decided he needed one to get around but he obviously don’t know much about real cars. The batmobile looks more like a nightmare shaped into a vehicle then anything real. Even people who have manged to get a look inside have said it looks like something out of a movie or something.

The rest of the batfam are the same.

Nightwing is nice enough but he never seems to realise that normal people don’t just flip or cartwheel as easily as walking. Regular humans certainly don’t bend that way.

Red Hood dose an ok job at seeming like a regular thug from Crime Ally. Someone that has good aim that just put on a helmet and decided to be a criminal/vigilantly. But he knows a bit too much for someone who for all intents and purposes appears to have grown up on the streets. Anything from literature to languages.
And the people who have worked under him swear sometimes he forgets to breathe.

Black Bat does a terrible job of not behaving like a living shadow but she’s started to figure out human languages, so good for her.

Batgirl was always better than the others at seeming to be human, even back when she had red hair. Some people think she changed it so she would be mistaken for Batwoman (obviously some sort of vampire), it’s a pity she didn’t think to change her age right.

Someone must have told Red Robin that people live off coffee. It’s a pity he hasn’t quite figured out that much caffeine would give regular people a heart attack.

The latest Robin hasn’t really got the hang of curbing his bloodlust yet. There are a few people that prefer him to the earlier ones though. Frankly, being that happy to be beating up criminals was kind of creepy.

Signal obviously thinks he’s getting away with something by claiming he’s a Meta. Maybe because he seems to have light powers rather then the other’s shadow powers. Or maybe it’s just he’s in the daytime more and couldn’t think how else to hide.

Of course, all of them have a hard time remembering to make noise when they move and they can all disappear into shadows so they’re not really fooling anyone.

But if Gotham’s Eldridge horrors want to go around pretending to be human, the citizens aren’t going to call them out on it.
Gotham protects their own.

(The batmobile is ridiculously hi-tech, of course the inside doesn't look like a real car.
Dick's not quite a contortionist but he is ridiculously flexible.
The jacket might hide it a bit but Jason wears body armor, armor doesn't really move enough to show breathing.
The general public don't exactly know about Oracle & Spoiler was around before she got bat training but Batgirl people remember.
Cass is obvious.
Tim doesn't actually drink that much coffee, he just has a habit of making a cup, taking a sip & then getting distracted by something & letting it go cold.
Damian would not like to find out that some people consider him the less scary Robin.
Duke still thinks he's the normal one.)

Batfam musings

So despite the fact that I haven't picked up a comic in years (and the fact I was more into Marvel then DC) I've been reading a bunch of Batfam fics recently.
And it just got me thinking, what habits have people got into from their superhero life that's a carried over to their civilian life that they don't even realize.

Like Bruce (unless he's hamming it up as Brucie) whenever he sits down he jerks his hand to the side. Adjusting the cape he's not wearing so he can sit down properly.
Give anything stick-like to Dick and he will twirl it. And if he's really not paying attention sometimes he'll try and holster it before putting it down.
Barbara will sometimes tap her armrests when talking to someone, as if she's using push to talk, even when the person is right in front of her.
She has definitely also tried to control+Z once or twice when she was writing with a pen and a piece of paper.
When Jason's annoyed, and wants people to know about it, he'll give a low quiet hum. Not something that's very audible unless it's backed up by a voice modulator, in which case it sounds like an inhuman growl.
When Tim's concentrating he'll tap an area around his eyes. It's an odd place to rub if you didn't know that's where the edge of his domino mask sits.
Whenever Stephanie hops or jumps, when she lands she does a little jerking motion with her head to make sure her hood stays on.
Cass's costume had a cloak when she was first learning ALS so now whenever she starts to sign she brings her hands up from straight in front of her, as if pushing it out of the way so her hands are visible.
Damian will, of course, constantly reach for his katana even if it's nowhere near him.
Duke ducks a little too much whenever there's something low hanging over him. It only took him a few times in his helmet to realize he had to compensate for the ear ridges on top and now he does it all the time.

I've pretty much run out of idea for this & I have no idea how many other members of the batfam there are so I'll just stop there.

I also came up with a nursery rhyme for the Robins.

Pain - Assassin's Creed fic

I wanted to mention something about glitches in this but it threw off the mood.

just came up with something small based on yesterdays idea.

The college was very enthusiastic about it its extracurricular activities.
It had an old building for all those clubs that weren’t sports so couldn't just store their equipment in the gym. Cards and chips for the poker club, chess boards and pieces for the chess club, board games dice for the table top club etc. The smaller clubs could even use the rooms to meet, though of course the larger clubs would have to book an empty classroom.

At the top of the building, further up the stairs then most wanted to walk but with direct access to the roof, one such club used the space.
Inside the room there were various pictures of past members. On one wall was a large map of the main campus and the surrounding areas with sections marked off. Next to it was a full calendar of the year with dates blacked out, one rather large area during the exams just said “out of bounds”. There large box of washable markers in somewhat disarray and next to is a wastepaper basket with a sign saying “used”.
Taped to the back of the door was standard form all clubs had to fill out and display.
This one had the words “Club Guidelines” crossed out and over it were the words “Assassin's Creed”.

Written underneath was the following:

Stay your blade from the flesh of an innocent

Do not hit anyone but your target. We do not want any collateral damage. Do not give anyone a reason to complain to the faculty.

Hide in plain sight

Do not get caught doing anything illegal. We all know you're going to do something stupid to get to your target at some point just don't leave any evidence that anyone can give to the faculty.

Never compromise the Brotherhood

The parkour/free running club got cancelled due to health and safety. Do not give anyone any excuse for them to do the same with us. Do not give anyone any reason to complain to the faculty! Don't be stupid!!!

A Witcher fic

Full disclosure, I have not seen any of the Nexflix series of 'The Witcher'. Nor have I played any or the games nor read any of the books.
I stumbled across a fic on tumblr & fell down the rabbit hole.

I have learned the that the show runners never aged up the actor who plays Jasker simply because they forgot he wasn't immortal like the others.

There's bunch of 'immortal Jaskier' fics out there now so here's my one.

D&D Presents: a T.O.R.C.H. fic

Random sceen I don't have a fic for

Stupid scene that just popped into my head almost as is. It was short so I decided to write it down. I don’t have a story to stick it in so I guess it lives here now.

A new monster (or maybe one that just woken up for centuries of slumber) is being shown around a bar full of cryptids when they spot a human. They ask the monster showing them around about it.

“Oh don’t worry about that one, he’s a bard”

“A what?”

“Well I guess they’re just called musicians or artists or influencers these days but their basically still bards. Your better off not bothering them.”

“But all humans are prey.”

“Of course. But there are some humans it’s best to stay away from.”

“Ah, hunters.”

“Pfft, forget hunters. They either get killed off eventually or end up as monsters in denial. Who cares. No, let me give the same advice my progenitor gave to me. When it comes to humans there are 3 things to remember. Don’t tangle with Witches. They’re tricksy, it’s not worth it. Don’t f*ck with Bards (I’d say don’t f*ck them either but no one seems to listen to that) & stay away from Blacksmiths.”

“What are backsmiths?”

“You don’t need to worry too much about them, there aren’t many left nowadays. Just remember, a hot iron poker tends to cut through bullsh*t no matter how magical you think you are.”

The way I figure it, in old-school tales Witches are crafty, Bards are lucky and Blacksmiths always have something either heavy sharp or hot around & they don't take any nonsense.
If I could figure out a story for this it'd be something about how this'd translate into modern times.
But I've got nothing.

(Maybe I should have used the line ‘YouTubers or Vloggers or influencers’ instead of ‘musicians or artists or influencers’. Oh well.)

Dream Alone - DCA fic

The title for this is solely because, when was trying to think of one, this song by Natewantstobattle came up on my playlist & it was too good of a coincidence to ignore. (It’s just for the title, the lyrics don’t really match)

Technically this takes place any time after ep: 110 but while I allude to stuff that happened in 109 – 111 I don’t think I actually mention anything that happens after ep 59.

I like how the 2 times Paultin has guest stared in another game (other than the 'C' team or Nate DMing) it’s been some sort of astral shenanigans. I know it's really because of how it’s the easiest way to just drop a player in a random game but it gives me some interesting ideas for headcanons. Like how Vistani usually travel around but Paultin’s now stuck in Waterdeep so his mind is doing it instead. Either that or rescuing Evelyn from the Soulmonger with that Nate20 had lasting consciences.

DCA fic - A Night In The Shadowfell

This takes place during ep 85.

I cut a lot more forth wall stuff from this including a reference to the fact the this fic take place during the middle of the ep so there was about 1 hr left in it. This is the ep that Chris says that Paultin sees the 4^th wall when he’s drunk but he’s mostly sober in this. Besides, I always liked the theory that the whole 4^th wall thing was something that got worse the more trauma he goes though. And, oh boy, the eps coming up.

I don’t know if it was too subtle but I’d like to point out that Paultin’s looking at his fingers when he’s talking to Gutter not because he needs to see what he’s doing but because he needs to make sure that he’s not wearing the ring of winter.
The last magical talking item he had was pretty manipulative, I think he actually appreciates that Gutter is pretty up front about the fact he just wants to stab things.

About Paultin not caring about Diath’s secrets, well he said outright that he has a bunch of his own. The difference between them is that Diath tries to be responsible & it crushes him when he fails. Whereas Paultin tries desperately to make sure no one ever relies on him at all.

Also the bit where he exercises during his watch is a headcannon of mine since he seems like the kind of guy that doesn’t want people to know how much work he puts into things, see the above sentence of not wanting responsibility. But the guy has the second highest strength score in the party. And he maybe an alcoholic but he’s also a survivor. He’s not going to do something like get drunk on watch or something but it’s a long time to on you own with your thoughts. Not his strong suit I’m guessing.

This thing could probably use more polish but I have no one to beta this so I might as well post it

YouTube Circus AU fic idea

So I was trawling though marksandrec & I started thinking about an AU idea w/ Marks & Jacks ego’s.

What if all the characters were part of a circus?
A creepy circus of course. And they’d still have freaky powers or whatever, but they’d still have to deal with putting on a show (I’ve worked enough back stage to know the types of shenanigans that pop up so this is something I’d love to read myself). I figure this would be set in the past at the height of the freak show craze just because of the complete lack of safety regulations. And then I thought that, well, I know I’m probably never going to write this but if I did I’d need a POV character. And I’ve been listening to a lot of songs from Natewantstobattle recently & he even has a song with a kind of barker exchange that would fit (I know it’s a FNaF song, but whatever). & fans treat the characters in his music vids like egos so I figured it would fit. Even though I really know absolutely nothing about the guy.

And then I ended up spending more time thinking of how the prologue w/ him would go then the original AU idea and acutlly ended up writing a fic:

So that works as a standalone I think but the rest of the circus idea was basically Natemare is wondering about trying figure out his shiny new powers when someone tries to rob him. He scares the guy so much he faints. This is how he discovers he needs fear and the nervousness of performers before an act isn’t going to cut it.

Maybe an info broker (MattPat) says he heard of a place looking for workers. Or maybe he hears someone yelling out to advertise a new show. A horror carnival. Called ‘Darks Dreadful Delight’s’ or something. The guy a has good voice for yelling (It’s Jacksepticeye) & has a patter down of all the acts guaranteed to thrill and terrify & all that stuff.

So Nate decides to go.

I’m not sure if I’d have Markiplier be the owner & have Dark the ringmaster or if I’d drop Mark & Jack altogether & just have their characters. If I did the latter the Jack would be Anti alias. If I did the former I properly have Anti possessing Jack or something. Idk.

Anyway, Natemare goes to see the show.

There’s preshow carnival stuff. Ed Edgar runs some of them. Chase Brody probably runs a ring toss. Bim Trimmer might run one of those rope ladder things. Since those are practically impossible.

There also a cabinet of curios kind of thing, which you pay to go in. It’s run by the Host. It’s got weird things like a green eyeball that swims in a tank and a tiny dancing little box. It’s got a ton of fakes like the stuffed Jackalope & the unicorn horn that’s actually from a narwhal. But it’s also got actual cursed items there as well. (One of them’s totally Nate’s old guitar he got when he was a kid. He doesn’t find that out until later though since he doesn’t go in, saving his money for the show itself.)

The show starts off w/ a warning from Dark that it not for the faint of heart. They take no responsibly of anyone dying of fright & such.

Since I’d say this fic would be set sometime around the early 1900s they’d have electric lighting by then, so they would have some sort or red & blue lights on him to (hide) give him his weird aura.

Wilford Warfstache who have some sort of gun/shooting performance. They defiantly get a volunteer from the audience for the finale & pop balloons around them. The crew always make sure that they the supply the guns for the act since they’re filled with blanks because if left to his own devises he would pull his own and his aim is sometimes not all that great (The balloons are actually popped by hidden pins that are pulled in place by someone backstage.) This doesn’t exactly help with Warfstache’s delusion that getting shot can’t kill you but he’s crazy anyway. There’s totally a bit at the end where he fires wildly & hits the band.

Jake/Anti is on the drums, (I think I’d get Jack to introduce himself as ‘a’ Jack since he’s a jack of all trades, filling in were needed in the circus. That’s where he’d get his name.)

Anti would make a big deal about almost being shot & swing over w/ a conveniently placed rope & chase after Warfstache all acrobatic like until getting his throat cut.

The audience would be left wondering a bit if that was part of the act.

The stage hands/clowns would be the Googles. They would be look like (actually be) machines. Elektro the was a robot on display in the 1939’s world fair so it’s not out of the possibility for acts to have something purporting to be similar around that time.

They would have a small act with the strict Googleplier ordering the others to set up between acts & Bingiplier would be the one messing up all the time & getting into trouble.

It’s serves as a distraction for the audience between acts for setting things up.

The slapstick would get harsher & harsher as the show would go on with the final set change ending w/ Goolgle ripping off Bings head.

Dr. Iplier & Dr. Schneeplestein would have some sort of mad scientist act w/ electricity. The tesla coil was made in 1891 so that could have sparks flying every were. The final of their act could be ‘bringing Anti back to life’. So he’d spend the rest of the night running after Warfstache. The finale of the whole show might be some fight that Dark interrupts or something.

Jackieboy Man & Silver Shepherd would have a high-wire trapezes act. There would be lots of bits where they almost fall but the finale would have a rope ‘break’ with some sort of last minute save. This would be yet another moment where the audience wasn’t sure if it was real or not. (It’s not, Silver Shepherd & Jackieboy Man are superheros from another dimension trapped here until someone from their home can come & get them. Jackieboy Man can fly & Silver Shepherd is invulnerable.)

Jameson Jackson has a mime act, maybe also sword swallowing & juggling, King of Squirrels has an animal (squirrel of course) act, Marvin The Magnificent has a magic act.

I don’t know if the Jims are conjoined twins or have some sort of acrobatic act.

Robbie would be a contortionist.

Maybe Bim could do double duty & have one of those acts where he eats nails & glass and stuff.

The Host has a mentalist act where he reads the audience & spills their secrets. The really bad secures he would just allude to enough for them to get really nervous about. It might be similar how mediums & spiritualist acts go. (In some shows in the past he scared people with deep dark secrets so much that they’d come back after the show to try and silence him forever. All of those people ‘mysteriously’ disappeared.)

The whole show would get more & more violent & disturbing throughout the night. The audience would be left guessing how much of it was real or not. The performers would all tread a thin line between scaring the living daylights out of everyone & not actually starting a mob, so they don’t get chased out of town.

The end of the night when they all take their bow is usually enough for the audience to feel like it was all just a good show but they all secretly be leave with an uneasy doubt about it.

As usual I don’t have a plot for this. Nate comes back the next day & gets hired as a musician. Dark & Anti realise he’s practically a baby w/ his demon powers.

The rest would be just everyone introducing themselves & what their deals are & all the acts & stuff.

Maybe other youtubers are there.

If I was to throw the Sanders Side in there it's probably as a bunch of ghost that hunt the 'Sanders Theater', one of the place they preform in, or something.

Even the best show is like a swan, gliding along for the audience but back stage everyone’s furiously paddling to stay afloat.

I like the idea that demonic powers really don’t help w/ that as much as you’d think.

Sanders Sides fic - YouTube Villian Meet Up

There’s a thing going around on tumblr right now about bringing back the citrus system.
I’m old enough to remember lemons & limes.
I remember the reason behind disclaimers.
I remember writers arguing w/ their characters in authors notes.
And while I’m not old enough to have been part of Usenet & fanzines I do remember webrings.

Make of that what you will.

And all these trips down memory lane reminded me of an old fandom thing I think may be coming back as well.

There was a type of fic that was set in a place, usually a bar or a pub or even a café where characters from all types of fandoms would meet up.

The fic was usually an excuse to do an easy crossover. The tavern could be set up on a multidimensional gateway or on the 4^th wall or just exist. The characters could know they were in a story & complain to each other about fics & author abuse or they could just stumble about the place & it would be played straight.

Off the top of my head I can think of one good example that I can find right now but here were many things like this done back in the day.

It’s a lot like ItsJustSomeRandomGuy’s series or HISHE’s villain’s pub & super hero café just expanded to include whatever character you want, or even multiple versions of the same character.

I’ve been reading a bunch of YouTuber fics lately and the thing that struck me was a lot of them had the same vibe as some of those old fics. I’m guessing because YouTube is so good for collaboration, writing fics where one creator’s character just know about another’s without having to explain just make’s sense.

This fic was inspired by this pic and a random comment under one of NateWantsToBattle’s music vids.

I have since read Confusion Aside by The_WritersBlock &, though I had the idea for this beforehand, it did inspire me to finish writing it up.

So I wanted to have a bunch or characters from all over youtube not just letplayers & stuff. So the guy in the swirly goggles is Dr. Linksano from Atop the Fourth Wall (or, since I don’t mention what he’s wearing it could be Dr. Insano from the Spoony Experiment). The grey man is Darkiplier & the green guy w/ the throat wound is, of course, Anti Septiceye. The Loki mention is actually from Parle Productions' Some Assembly Required. The gargoyle is from the Zombie Orpheus series JourneyQuest. The guy with the cane is Pantom from the music vid I mentioned earlier. I have no idea who Deceit pissed off at the end there so it could be any villain from any youtube channel. It doesn’t matter.

(I did make Deceit more chaotic annoying rather than evil for this. And I mention Sleep even though I know he’s not & probably never will be a canon side. Also I just found out Virgil’s demon voice is called Tempest Tongue.)

Sam's Story: Jacksepticeye fanfic

So a while back I was browsing the internet, as you do, and I came across a list of videos that JackSepticeye's characters appeared in.
Thanks to YouTube recommended algorithm I ended up watching a bunch of his videos.
I've watched some some of his stuff before but not much. I got to see him live when the Ready Player Three tour came to Dublin, Which was cool.

Now I've mentioned before that I'm not much for RPF but I can see why some people might be.
But it seems that this doesn't stop me writing stuff that skirts the line.

So I wrote this AU thing from the POV of Sam, the logo for Jack's channe.
I hope this makes sense
